A Little About Me
My name is Stefanie Vaughn, and I am the Program Director of Surgical Technology at Angelina College in Lufkin, TX. I have been an educator for over eight years and am currently pursuing a Master’s of Education in Applied Digital Learning and Leading at Lamar University, with plans to graduate in December 2025. My graduate studies focus on integrating technology and innovative teaching strategies into surgical technology education, ensuring that both students and educators are well-equipped for success in the field.
I am also actively working on the Surgical Technology Educators Program (STEP), a collaborative initiative alongside another program director. We are developing module-based learning resources to support new educators transitioning from clinical practice to the classroom. This program is designed to bridge the gap between clinical expertise and effective teaching methodologies, providing structured guidance and professional development for surgical technology educators.
Before transitioning into education, I worked as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for fifteen years. Throughout my career in the operating room, I trained and mentored countless students, which sparked my passion for teaching. Now, as an educator, my goal is to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences that inspire my students and prepare them for real-world surgical careers.
Beyond my professional life, I have been married to my husband Don for 12 years, and we have four adult children and six grandchildren. Education is my passion, and I love sharing my knowledge and experiences with my students. Watching them grow, develop their skills, and step confidently into the world of surgery is incredibly rewarding. Through my work with students and new educators, I strive to make a lasting impact on the future of surgical technology education.
