Surgical Technology Educators Program - S.T.E.P.

Developing Leaders in Surgical Technology Education
This section represents my development as a leader focused on driving meaningful and sustainable change within surgical technology education. Through coursework such as Leading Organizational Change, I explored how effective leadership goes beyond managing programs; it requires understanding how people, culture, and systems interact when change is introduced.

The frameworks studied in this course provided practical strategies for addressing complex challenges within educational environments. Concepts such as the Influencer Strategy, the 4 Disciplines of Execution (4DX), and the Five Stages of Change demonstrate how successful change initiatives require clear vision, focused execution, and collective accountability. At the same time, principles of Self-Differentiated Leadership and Crucial Conversations emphasize the importance of emotional intelligence, communication, and the ability to lead with clarity during moments of uncertainty.

These leadership strategies directly inform the development of the Surgical Technology Educators Program (STEP), an initiative designed to support new educators transitioning from the operating room into academic leadership roles. By combining structured training with thoughtful leadership practices, this work reflects my commitment to strengthening educator preparation, improving program stability, and supporting long-term success within surgical technology education.

Together, the work in this section reflects my growth as a leader who not only designs learning environments but also builds systems that empower educators, support collaboration, and drive lasting improvement.
