Instructional Design & Significant Learning
This section highlights my work in instructional design, curriculum development, and the creation of meaningful learning environments. Through courses such as Creating Significant Learning Environments, Instructional Design in Online Learning Environments, and Assessing Digital Learning and Instruction, I explored how thoughtful course design, aligned assessment, and learner-centered strategies can transform educational experiences.
The projects featured in this section demonstrate how I applied frameworks such as Understanding by Design (UbD), constructivist learning theory, and action research to design courses that connect learning outcomes, instructional strategies, and assessment in intentional and measurable ways. This work reflects my growth in developing learning environments that not only engage students but also address broader challenges in surgical technology education, including educator preparation and program sustainability.
Together, these experiences represent my evolution from delivering instruction to intentionally designing learning systems that promote significant learning, professional growth, and long-term impact.
Creating Significant Learning Environments
This course focused on designing meaningful, student-centered learning experiences grounded in constructivist learning theory. Through the development of a personal learning philosophy and the application of the Understanding by Design (UbD) framework, I explored how intentional course design can promote deeper engagement and lasting learning.

Instructional Design in Online Learning Environments
This course expanded my understanding of instructional design by focusing on how online learning environments can be intentionally structured to support meaningful learning. Using the Understanding by Design (UbD) framework, I examined how learning outcomes, assessments, and instructional strategies must work together to create cohesive and effective learning experiences.
The projects presented here demonstrate how I applied instructional design theory to develop engaging course structures and learner-centered materials that support measurable learning outcomes.
Assessing Digital Learning & Instruction
This section highlights my action research exploring how structured professional development can address challenges within surgical technology education. Through systematic planning, observation, and reflection, this research examines how targeted support for program directors may improve educator retention and strengthen program stability.
The work includes the Action Research Design Outline, Action Research Plan, and supporting literature review that form the foundation of this investigation.
